Sorry, but I just couldn't resist this one... It's got such a lovely orange interior!

Have a look HERE and see what you think. The worst part is that I remember my dad having one (an estate) as a company car back in the eighties, same colour inside and out...

We're off to Oxfordshire again... Now the last time we ventured into this fine county, we tried out the 'Duck on the Pond' in South Newington, not too far from Banbury, and we liked it lots. And after a unanimous result in the poll, we're going back there!

For those who didn't attend previously, have a look at their website here. The postcode for your SatNav is OX15 4JE.

Yesterday I was at my local Sainsbury's buying a large bag of Purina dog food for my loyal pets and was in the checkout queue when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So, since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in hospital last time, but that I'd lost 2 stones before I woke up in intensive care with tubes coming ...

On the way home tonight in the Trophy the engine warning light started flashing

The car was running fine but I pulled over and let it idle but couldn't hear any strange noises.

Oil and coolant levels were OK. So I switched the engine back on and no warning light. I drove home normally and it stayed off.

What was that all about then?

A couple of members & I started this event in the FFOC (Ford Focus...aye, you guessed it!) and it became incredibly popular (almost too popular), so I figured it would work for us too...

Basically...it's an early morning run across country from the 3 Counties to the Breacon Beacons in Wales. Going across country is a nice route (I'll have to double check it with the guys I used to do it with) and timed right, you can stop in Merthyr Tydfill for breakfast.

This sets you up perfectly ...

As a result of very positive feedback from our Christmas event, we're giving Overstone Manor a go for our regional pub meeting. Not only does it have a fantastic menu, including the carvery, but the car park is massive so we can squeeze a few of us in for a prestigious line-up!

The postcode for anyone using 'SatNag' is NN6 0BB. Click the postcode for a map, although it's a little further down than the pointer shows. Look for the gap in the stone wall with signs. Can't miss it!

I'm looking forward to a great day out, but I'm not going to go too mental as I dont fancy forking out for new bearings and tyres!

Booked with Austin Garages (www.austingarages.co.uk) -seems like they're pretty well versed in MG Rover's products and their hourly rate is reasonable (£45+VAT). Jean is pleasent and helpful on the phone and the quote of a shade under a grand (with a few other bits & pieces e.g. water pump, tensioners etc) is the best I've had-gulp.

I did email Clifton Lane and got no response

I've been wondering what you guys do regarding tyre preservation on cars laid up over winter?

I normally wait for a fine clean day every fortnight or three weeks to give my car a run; but this winter the weather hasn't been suitable.

Hence my Zed has sat in the same spot for a couple of months, I am thinking about jacking it up and rotating the wheels half a turn tomorrow to prevent flat spots.

What do you do?

Do you place the car on axle stands??

Suggestions welcome,

thanks

This story popped up on my iPhone this morning, courtesy of Sky News, and I thought it may be an idea to post about it here just in case anyone can help in any way.

Sky News wrote:A woman has died after she was run over by a thief who was stealing her car.

The 42-year-old victim, who has not been named, confronted the man after spotting him in the driver's seat of her yellow MG as it was parked in Wigan.

As she walked in front of the vehicle, the car pulled away ...

Just had a great little blast in MGF all good fun.

I have a couple of questions, when I had it all nice and warmed up, I gave it, it's head. The engine pulled nice and smoothly around to 7K and all was good. Then a few minutes later it wouldn't pull past 6k, it was like in hit a rev limiter.

The engine was fine up 6k, I then stopped and when I drove off again it pulled fine up to 7k again but then a few minutes later in then had 6k problem again. I assume I have some sort of VVC problem???
