BritCars'09 - 6th September 2009

Post  Rich on 3/5/2009, 7:03 pm

PRESENTED BY BRIT-CARS.COM &
SOUTHMIDS SPORTSTERS

I received a disturbing email from Tony of BritCars recently, saying that their rally would not be happening this year as other commitments (he's getting married) meant he had no time to organise it and nobody had stepped forward to help out. We've attended the event in an official capacity for the last two years and I've been to every one before so something had to happen. After a chat at our last meeting and a few calls, Nick, Seb and I decided to offer our services to save the event... and the offer was taken!

So now, after a meeting with Tony, we are the official event team.

The event will, as always, be at Wicksteed Park (Kettering) and the only charge will be the standard gate entry of £6 per car and the cost of any rides. There will be a raffle (tickets will be available soon) and all monies raised will be going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK. Previously, families being helped by the foundation have attended the event and assisted in the final judging of the 'Pride of Ownership' competition. Hopefully, this year will be no different.

We would appreciate support from the rest of the group on the day as we'll obviously have a display of our own. Please add your name to the thread if you are interested in attending...

Rich

Attendees:
  • Rich* & Kate
  • Nick*
  • Seb*
  • Dave D*
  • Stuart
  • Dave & Carole
  • Marcus
  • Iain
  • Darren
*Events team

Me too! I can bring two MGs (hopefully) again to make the stand even more impressive. It was certainly the best one there when we went two years ago. Laughing

I've launched the 'official' rally website today which has all the details you need for this event. Click here to have a look.

You can also download a leaflet about this year's event for printing or forwarding to friends here...

...and you can also download a review of last year's event here.

Wave the Union flag

You'll have to fill me in with what jobs need to be done? I'll print off some flyers at work and drop a few around!

Tracy McKechnie from the Brit-Cars forum has created a group on Facebook, so if you would like to see who's on and who's already planning to attend, have a look HERE.

Please pass this on to friends who may be interested in coming along. It's a great modern way to promote events!

Now that Nick has obtained THE raffle prize and Rich went behind my back and officially invited Becky Shocked she has jumped in to the spirit and will contact mates in the two local F1 teams (Red Bull being one) to see if she can get auction items. Very Happy

Of course it is... The more the merrier, and it will be great to have your car as part of our display. I'll let you know where we're meeting up prior to going into the venue, so we can all enter together, bearing in mind that as the co-organisers this year we'll be going in early...
Boogie!
