Brooklands MG Era - 11th April 2010

Post  Rich on 22/2/2010, 9:00 pm

This annual event gives members and friends an insight into one of the most important parts of British automotive and aviation history. Brooklands was the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit and includes restored buildings containing a notable collection of treasures. The venue is also the site of many engineering and technological achievements throughout eight decades of the 20th century.

Click here for details of the event, or here for general venue details.

Many of us have been several times before, but still love to visit each year to get together with fellow enthusiasts and enjoy the atmosphere that Brooklands uniquely offers. And one or two of us even take part in the famous Test Hill challenge.

If you're interested in a convoy down, please add your name to the thread.

Attendees:
  • Rich & Kate
  • Iain
  • Stuart
  • Dave
  • Lee

Rich-is there going to be an SMS stand at this event or is it just one to visit for us?

No stand at this one, but the MGF and Zed Registers will probably have something. They usually do the parking based on model rather than club so we would be split up on arrival, but the drive down should be fun and we can gather at a predetermined location if required.

Shall I put you on the list? I assume you'll be meeting us there. Perhaps do a run down with Marcus if he decides to join us too...

Put me on the list, sounds like a good day out-I've never been to Brooklands so it'll be an experience.

That it will be. Some of it is even spooky in a way when you stand on the famous banking and remember the cars that flew off the top of it, especially as one of them was never found!

Anyone whose stood on the banking will tell you these pics don't do the steepness justice... and you should try driving on it!!!!

Unfortunately, Kate & I aren't going to make this one, but it seems to have gone quiet generally so I don't know if everyone else is still committed to this one. If so, I'm hopinh one of you can arrange a meeting point, preferrably someone who knows how to get there!

I'm still going-I'm on the Zed register stand so I don't know how my timing would fit in with others?

Up for a convoy down though.

Glad you enjoyed the day.

If you can send me the pics, I'll resize them for the website. If you're feeling really brave, you could even write a small review!

I had the opposite-good journey down, crap journey back! Got stuck in the tailback of a crash for about 5 junctions...

Still-a good day out and that banking is something else!

Stuart's pictures are finally on the website... Apologies as the delay was down to me! Have a look here at his collection.

If anyone would like to add a reveiw of the meeting, please send it to me and I'll put it with the pics. It doesn't have to be too long. Look at other pages with reviews for an idea of the sort of thing to write.
