The ZR has been running on coal

Post  Sambomonkee on 24/3/2013, 1:31 am

Just stripped the cam cover off to start to remove the lifters to see that the head looks like its been running on coal!!

Huge flacks of dry oil and nasty black oil every where, sludge attached to the cams. I would assume this car is well over due an oil change.

Looks like I am going to have to take the cam carrier off and clean everything, I am soooo looking forward to cleaning 16 individual lifters again, so much fun.

Most likely explains the diesel sounding engine Smile

Nice and simple little job there Smile

Yep think the servicing has been a little neglected, once back together use an oil treatment or flushing oil too as that will help clean all the areas that you can't clean well then put normal oil and another filter on after a couple days use.

it'll most likely be the same as the head and stained, can give the pickup a clean out too then. Shouldn't be a problem though.
