MGF headlights... Help!

Post  Rich on 28/5/2013, 7:12 am

Angel is due for her MoT at the end of the month and this weekend Matt came down and gave her a once over. Although there were a few items needing attention, Matt has kindly offered to assist with getting the majority sorted BUT we do have a bit of an issue that's not so easy to deal with... angel has gone misty-eyed!
Sad

Basically, we are looking at a well known problem with older MGF headlights in that the chrome reflectors have lost their shiny surface due to the heat from the bulbs over the years. This results in candle like output and not enough light to give the beam pattern required for the MoT. I am going to attempt to repair them short term by using the adhesive chrome sheeting in strips but this is not ideal so I'm looking for a good deal on a pair of replacements. If anyone can help, please let me know ASAP.

Unfortunately it looks like Angel will be missing MGs in the Park... Crying or Very sad

I have a pair of spares I'm keeping for the banshee, but I may have a spare reflector or two, I'll have a mooch in the spares and see what I have knocking around....

Ok I have an excellent passenger side reflector, the casing has 2 broken lugs so you'll need to swap the reflector into Angels existing unit. I would like to keep the headlight glass too, if your ok swapping it all over Very Happy

Cheers Nick. That would be a great help. Alternatively, how would you feel about 'lending' me the spares to get Angel through the MoT? I'd swap them back straight away. It would buy me some time to get something sorted. After all, she won't be driven at night for a while now!

EDIT: Just read your second post.. That would be a great help. I was planning on doing a trophy style conversion anyway so that would work fine. Just need to sort a driver's side now!

If you're referring to the HID projector conversion, you can find it HERE. I wish we could do the conversion for Angel but it's not cost effective for her.
