Hope to meet you there, but may go straight to Wicky with the tent. Also....

With some help from a few friends, I managed to get autographs from all the drivers in last Sundays BTCC races at Silverstone (even Johny Herbert), along with a few other BTCC regulars including Tim Harvey, Alan Gow, Alan Hyde, around 30 in total, inside the covers of an address book featuring cars from the 50's and 60's.
This will be added to the auction at Wicksteed with a copy of the event programme from Silverstone.

Stu,

We're having a meeting at The Priory, just outside Wellingborough on the A45, tonight at 7.30pm. It's an organisation meeting but you're more than welcome to come along. Two of the organisation team can't make it so there may be a task or two you can pick up!
Thumbs up

No problem. The more people there are, the more raffle tickets we can sell! Thumbs up Laughing

We'll be meeting at the cinema car park in Kettering at 8.30am so we can go in and set everything up, although there's not that much to set up really! Bodies to direct traffic and to sell raffle tickets, etc. is all we're really likely to need and perhaps a little help on the SmS stand so we're not all tied to it all day. But you can just come and have fun if that's all you want to do...

I spoke to Jon Webster tonight (1600hp MG SV). Up until two weeks ago he was available for Sunday but is now going to Trax as a last minute entry into the 0-60 competition there. 1.8 seconds is possible if he can get enough traction.

He did say to let him know earlier next time.

I wouldn't have thought the Overstone show will have much of an effect on our turn-out. As for Trax, well apparently that's a bit of a Chav show anyway! Chavvy Laugh my a**e off!

Post  Captain Slow on 6/9/2009, 3:40 am

Well, it looks like Brit Cars & I aren't meant to be...

Was in the workshop today at work cleaning the car, start undoing the wheelnuts to remove the wheels to clean them properly and...my locking wheelnut key strips on the third wheel (and has damaged that wheel's nut)! Embarassed

So I've now got a car stuck at work with two half undone locking wheelnuts as there's no way I'm driving it with the chance of some wheels coming of...

Guess it's off to Soul's on Monday to see if I can order a new locknut key & some new locknuts!

Weak turnout today which would have been disappointing if it hadn't been for the great company Very Happy

It was good to meet the Brit Cars guys & gals and to see the usual SMS crew as well.

Some really good pics there Dave. By the way, sorry the 3D specs aren't as good as the originals, but it's all I could find and they sorta work! Cool

My pics are HERE.

Even though the numbers were down on previous years (several possibilities for this), the weather was good and the ones that did turn up seemed to have a great time. At least for next year's event we'll have more time and can learn from today.

I would like to thank our 'event crew' for helping out up to and on the day. You did a great job. Well done!

So onto Brit-Cars'10... Planning starts now!!!! Thumbs up Bonkers!

Many thanks to all who helped today. Despite the low turn out, I think most enjoyed it. I'll have some preliminary totals for the amount raised soon.

Sorry i didn't make it again today guys Sad its not through want of trying.

As most of you know, ive been uber ill & its taking alot longer to get back to full fitness than first anticipated, but im hoping i can make a meet / event before the year is out.

Fingers crossed eh?!

Finally finished counting and checking. We have £444 but still have to add in the amount in the Make-A-Wish collection tins and the Barclays fund matching secured by Dave. All in all, not a bad effort given the turn out.
